OPEN STUDIO - WEDNESDAY AUGUST 24, 2016

Open Studio Session: Wednesday, August  24th 5:00 - 9:00 PM

Want some studio time to work on your print for the upcoming Caligari Print Exchange? Come hang out with us this Wednesday!

During the designated four hour slot an Articulate Ink instructor will be in-studio as a supervisory body answering the odd question and offering assistance with troubleshooting. This option is ideal for members of the public with previous printmaking experience who do not yet feel comfortable using the studio unsupervised. Please note that Open Studio Time is not a substitute for instruction – the supervising printmaker will be available for consultation only.

If you are interested in Open Studio time please contact us before noon on August 24th with a description of your proposed activity for that session. Note that the facilities will be available on a first come first served basis - presses and equipment must be booked!

Cost: $35.00 for studio access and a $10.00 material fee. Please note that the material fee is subject to negotiation for large-scale projects.

We take cheques, cash (exact change only), MasterCard or Visa.

Call for Submissions - Caligari Print Exchange - DEADLINE EXTENDED

Organized in connection with the Caligari Project, Articulate Ink welcomes you to participate in the German Expressionist Print Exchange!

The Caligari Project is a unique, multidisciplinary, city-wide public festival celebrating German Expressionism in its many forms, encompassing visual arts, film, music, dance, theatre. The festival will be hosted in Regina, Saskatchewan with ongoing activities from September - December 2016.

Printmaking was a favored medium among German Expressionists, who used the process to distribute powerful utopian messages to the masses on leaflets, portfolios, posters, and manifestos. The works confronted religious, moral, social, and political matters with an energy and immediacy not possible through other mediums. The urgency of the issues is visible in the artists' handling of the medium who used distorted and exaggerated forms in a way that was unique amongst other prints of that era. This aggressive and striking approach became the hallmark of the German Expressionist artist.

It is with this spirit in mind that we invite you to create an edition of German Expressionist-inspired prints for the Caligari Project Print Exchange! Stay tuned for announcements in the near future for Caligari-themed print workshops, which will be available to artists of all skill levels.
